  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit Limping - Front paw

Cam has developed a limp, seemingly out of nowhere. She can put some weight on it and is eating. She has flopped a few times onto her back which might be a lack of balance, as it is something she doesn't usually do.

She's hard to get close to / handle so haven't been able to check her nails, or the bottom of her paws for sore hocks.

What's the best course of action for this?

P.s Bear has made a full recovery from his 2 weeks at the vets. He's back to being a happy bun. Thanks for all your help with him.

I would get it checked out at the vet. I had a rabbit who was limping a bit - turns out he had broken both bones in the front leg. I didn't realise for a few days.
Meanwhile, make sure she's eating / pooing OK.

Ive no experience of this, but I agree best checked at vets. Hope it's something easily sorted.

Thanks both.

I found a bit of dead/dried Holly (thorn) leaf in the garden so hoping she's hopped on it and just got a little stab on her foot.

Will see how she is in the morning and vet if she's not ok.
