  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Positive trip to the vet for a change!

Over the weekend Lilac seemed a tiny bit snuffly at times. She had pasteurella about 18 months ago so I didn't want to take any chances and booked her in today. I'm also away for a few days soon and my rabbits have a tendency to get ill when I'm about to go away!

Anyway, she's absolutely fine and the vet said she was very impressed with her, said she doesn't examine like an 8 year old rabbit at all! It was nice to come out of there with good news for a change and some compliments, not that Lilac appreciated it whatsoever, she ran away flicking her legs at me as soon as we got home

That must have been a relief for you. It is always good to get a professional opinion with her history and age.

ahhh, theres nothing so beautiful as a vet saying your bunny is in great shape & leaving with no treatment, no follow up....well done Lilac

She is doing very well for her age, long may it continue! She's still angry with me, even the offer of a treat won't change her mind lol.
