  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My bunny is limp

Hi i'm wondering if anyone can help, a week ago my bunny suddenly stopped being energetic and was quite limp for 24 hours then suddenly started feeding fine and was ok. Exactly a week later she has done exactly the same she is very limp and is just lying there. Her eyes are still open and is breathing fine and will eat if i feed her. I'm hoping she just comes out of it herself like last time but she seems very lethargic. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I was thinking of Floppy Rabbit Syndrome too. As Shimmer says this one really needs a vet asap. I hope she's ok

Hopefully you are already with a Vet but if not do make sure that Bunny is warm ( but not too hot) as sick Rabbits struggle to regulate their body temperature and thus can become hypothermic.

I've seen something like that. In my case it happend during molt season, and obviously it was too much ingested fur that caused problems. Sometimes it resolved itself before I geared up into panic mode, but I treated my girl for blockage twice this winter.
Could be a lot of different reasons in your case, no way to tell online.

Vet visit asap is a good idea as soon as we notice something is off, they are so good in hiding problems...
