Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Just staining from the litter tray? U/D

Azucena

Alpha Buck
Hi,

Humphrey has some yellowish stain a tiny bit above and below his nose.. Could this just be staining from the litter tray? (which he has moved from his cat litter sized box it sits in to a cardboard box nearby).
He's eating and behaving as normal.

Thanks,

Azucena.

U/D: It's very slightly tinged yellow near the corners of his nose.. It's not something you'd see unless you were looking for it I don't think.
He's recently not had any megasorb/carefresh on the bottom of his litter tray, just hay (it ran out but has been ordered). Could this be the reason? It soaking in to his hay instead? I don't think the camera on my phone would be clear enough to show an image.

Just been to see him again and it's gone.

He must have cleaned himself..

Should I just keep an eye out incase it appears again?

Sometimes Hopscotch gets a bit of a dirty looking nose - but he is prone to getting a wet/snotty nose. I always just assumed it was wet, and then getting dirty from nosing around in hay etc.

If it's gone, then yes I'd just keep an eye on it and see if it happens again :)
