Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Infacol alternative? Powdered simethicone?

Bunzicles

New Kit
Hi everyone,

It's been a long while since I've logged in here, but I do lurk regularly. I hope I can mine some collective wisdom :)

Is there an unflavoured, ideally powdered, rabbit safe alternative to Infacol? My poor bun has had a few stasis/gas episodes the past couple of years, and she absolutely hates Infacol with a passion, even if I dilute it down with something she likes. Just the smell of it makes her panic, I think she has actually been traumatized by it. During her last episode I tried hiding Infacol in some mushed up pellet juice and 'syringe' feed with a pipette, and now she is suspicious of her pellets which she normally goes mad for.... and pipettes, which she is normally perfectly fine with. It has certainly dented her trust in me.

Hopefully she won't have any more gas/stasis episodes, but if she does I suspect I might have better luck just mixing up an unflavoured powder in something she really loves.
