  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I am distraught I've only had him six weeks I lost my beloved Finley as you all know and Dana is still not out of the woods I'm struggling to cope
Evan has been hospitalized, on iv drip in an incubator and having heavy duty antibiotics by a nebulizer but I've been told to prepare for the worst

Im so so sorry, you must be so upset - I lost my beautiful girl less than 2 weeks ago and I just know how unbelieveably worried you must be....I really hope with all his intensive care he pulls through, lots and lots lof hugs xxx

He's pulled through the night and chewed through 3 drip lines so I'm getting him home he's still not 100% but vet is now offering better odds of surviving

ARRRGH he's back at emergency vets got him home this morning and all seemed well by 3pm however not eating, lethargic and cold phoned vet taken him back in but vet is really concerned about the fact he doesn't seem to be able to maintain his body temperature, his chest sounds awful and he has limited gut sounds, i'm so stressed i dont know what to do i feel he deserves a chance he's being kept overnight in an incubator with oxygen but the test will come when they try and take him out if he can maintain his on temperature it doesn't look good

Thanks for the vibes he is improving he's regulating his own temperature and things are moving through slowly so signs are good still at vets and they are going to start reducing his meds to see how his gut functions without them
