Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Head Tilt

Can be cause by many things, EC, Ear infection, stroke....

My boy had severe head tilt for over a year. Is your bun grinding teeth? Can they walk?

Your bun needs panacur & baytril

Do you have out of hours vets?

You need to get your Rabbit to a Vet tonight

The 'eye rolling' indicates severe central nervous system involvement and this cannot wait until the morning for treatment.

It may be a middle ear infection or possibly EC. I would contact your Vet now

Good luck

Hi - How's your bunny today? Did you manage to get to the vets?

One of my buns (Bunicula) started with the same symptoms on Sunday night. I dosed her with Baytril/Metacam and Panacur and she had a steroid injection at the vets. Has to have another on Wednesday and he hopes to see an improvement within a week, if not then it's EC  I'm re-treating all the buns with Panacur just in case.

Hope your bunny is on the mend soon, it's the first case of head tilt any of my buns have ever had, even losing 2 to EC. It's horrible seeing them like it but Bunicula is managing to eat and seems quite alert but wobbly on her feet.

Positive vibes for your bun.

Update

Hello I took Princess to the vet straight away I was so upset. She was given a steriod injection and Baytrill injection and some panacur to take for 9 days. She seems a little better today but I have never has a rabbit with head tilt so I don't know what to expect. I am taking her back to the vets tomorrow for a follow up. It is so distressing to see this. dawn x

youll need longer on the panacur than 9 days.....at least 28days with 6weeks being the most.

Usually about 6 weeks needed. Its also important that she gets some anti-inflammatories as its the bodies inflammatory response to EC that does the damage.Be prepared for it to take weeks rather than days for her to recover [and even then some bunnies are left with a head tilt] and then its often 1 step forward 2 steps back, but rest assured bunnies can recover from this.
sending nose rubs for your little one x
