  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Eye ulcer (update 1.6.21)

Check up at Optivet today.
The ulcer has healed really well, there is just a small bit left so she's on the eye drops for 10 more days. If she looks comfortable during this time then there is no need to take her back.
However, they have discovered that she has really dry eyes, so they've asked that I give her artificial tears every day as a long term thing to enable her to have the best eye health!
Britney is going to hate me

This news is very pleasing. I hope Britney gets well soon. :)

That's really good news, so pleased for her. Maybe she'll just get used to the artificial tears, hope so anyway x

Glad her ulcer is healing well. Perhaps the drops are contributing to the dry eye and it will improve in time. I suggest you begin with preservative free artificial tears because some preserved ones can be irritating to sensitive individuals like me. . She could never hate you.

I have only just caught up on this thread but so happy Britney's eye is much better. Sending her vibes for a full recovery soon [emoji175]
