I recently bought a pack of excel chamomile herbage, as normal. While getting it out the pack one time, I found some red stringy plastic in it. I removed the strands and kept them and complained to burgess. They asked me to send them the strands for testing, so I did. I received a reply saying they are baling twine that is used when harvesting the hay, small ends are sometimes deposited on the crop, and they can't guarantee it won't have any in it but they regularly review procedures etc. they sent me ten pounds of vouchers.
I have just replied to them, thanking them for their explanation etc but asking them to please ensure this cannot happen, and pointed out that if it had been eaten it could cause a blockage, stasis, large vet bills, and possibly worse. I did point this out in my original email, but stressed it more this time.
In my opinion it's dangerous, as the strange of twine were quite similar to the hay so could have been eaten along with some strands, rather than deliberately left by the bunny.
I have told them I'm a member on a forum and I felt I needed to make u aware of this. Please be careful with ur hay. Check it when u get it out the bag and fluff it up for ur bun etc. I know it's a small risk but is worrying. So please be aware and check the hay
