I’ve been a member here for a few years and don’t often post but today I’m devastated. I’ve lost three out of my four rabbits in the past few months, all suddenly in the night. My remaining rabbit Cory is older and on lots of meds but the three younger have gone one by one.
When I came down to find Caireann dead a few months after Bobert I requested a post mortem but it came back clear. They had originally said it was coronary with Bobert. And now last night my feisty girl Blossom died after going off her food - she didn’t make it to the emergency vets but just sort of spasmed and died. One day she was skipping and bouncing around the living room and the next dead.
There must be something going on here but what could it be. My rabbits are so important to me, I try to take really good care of them and have them insured to cover vet bills and take them regularly - Cory is there several times a month on average with his abscess and joints and I always research and try to give them the best care.
But this has left me feeling like a completely rubbish owner and one who shouldn’t be allowed to have animals. I’m at a complete loss. How can rabbits seem so vibrant and healthy and then just die without something more sinister going on.
Bobert
Caireann
Blossom
