Coccidiosis from chickens to rabbits - prevention?

Hi all,

I was on a rabbit Facebook group earlier and there was a thread about lawnmower clippings. Somehow I got onto the topic of coccidiosis with another person who was warning me about the potential for it to be transferred between chickens and rabbits. We have 7 ex battery hens who free roam the garden and although they don't have direct contact with the buns, they could potentially reach them through the bars of the play pens.

Is this something I acutally need to be concerned about? The lady said that she feeds her rabbits these pellets

for a month every year for prevention. As I have never heard of this brand or the disease that it is supposedly fortified against, I thought it would be worth checking before wasting my money or giving the boys something potentially very harmful.

I had two buns outside before Bear and Snowy (Who have moved out today) but they never seemed to have an issues like this. However, Lola did become very poorly very suddenly and, despite our vet's best efforts, passed around 12 hours later. Her husbun Basil passed two days later under similar circumstances. Around 12 hours before each of them passed, they both became quite quiet and didn't really want to eat. Could this have been coccidiosis?

If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance :)

Thank you so much for the link. I'm glad I checked now as I was about to entirely disregard it due to a lack of information on here when I looked. Hopefully more people are aware of this than I thought.
