  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Cisapride and emeprid dosage?

It is :)

Is it the label printed out by the Surgery ? It does not make sense. Metoclopramide (Vomend/Emeprid etc) is labelled in MG/ML- eg 5mg/ml
Yep by two different surgeries they are both the same, and it's not the amount that's dispensed either

How silly of me to think they dispensed that much for a 3kg rabbit.
They do sell oral emeprid online in that size bottle for dogs or cats. I don'recall mg per ml.

It must just be a labelling error or it refers to something we don't know? [emoji51]

I've had a vet tell me before it's half the rabbits weigh.. But Idk.

I rang up the vets from last night a minute ago and they said he could have more Metacam now, but this whole situation isn't looking good tbh :/

Right big guesses and tired maths here so forgive mistakes.

I bet its this one based on what Clementine was told to have which was 2.2ml for her 4.4kg of weight.

So on medirabbit it says the dose is - 0.5 mg/kg

So

4.4kg x 0.5 = 2.2

2.2 divided by 1 is still 2.2... Giving her dose 2.2ml

By that logic Atticus at 3kg

3kg x 0.5mg = 1.5

1.5 divided by 1 is 1.5ml

I think he needs that as opposed to 0.6ml

Oh and medirabbit says tid, so three times a day at that strength

If your meds are ones in link , 1mg per ml your math is correct to dose 0.5mg per kg.
