Bladder flushing..

I’m glad she is eating:love:
I suppose you can’t tell him to turn his volume down:lol:

Is Clementine OK today after the vets yesterday?
Yeaa without jinxing anything... She seems good, she ran at me full speed this morning [emoji38] she started eating more at 2am, 3am treats were finally accepted, hay has been nommed, stuff from the garden devoured, output over night was good, a little dark but that's too be expected I think :)

So yea I think she's doing good - still don't know if I should give the diuretic or not tho tbh [emoji849] it's really bugging me, because it may have been helping... And my last vets did speak to specialists about it before hand and what to prescribe and stuff.. The only reason not to take it from yesterday's vets is "we don't use diuretics for bladder sludge problems here" which really doesn't seem like a good enough reason not to use something if it's helping.. [emoji38] I wonder if there's a reason why they don't? As per I have a million unanswered questions and getting answers seems impossible. No one likes being questioned though

Thanks for asking :D

Well if I was faced with the issue of the diuretic I think I would continue it, at least until the results come through next week. It's not causing her any problems is it? Might not be what others would do, but it's what I would do:)

Also, especially if you have lots more questions, I would make an appointment to discuss the results next week with a vet, possibly not taking Clementine if it's not necessary. It's much easier to get proper answers face to face and it's especially not very satisfactory via a receptionist. For what it's worth I don't think that you are being a pain to them and I think that you deserve to have responses to your concerns. Maybe there is nothing further that they can test for and no medication that they can suggest, but I would need to find out. Sorry, some of that has come out as a rant :)

Yea it's caused no issues so far, and I'm wondering if it's helping tbh, the nurse said not much sludge showed on yesterday's xray.. [emoji38] think I'll do that and maybe discuss it with Mark etc after results are back. I'm hoping they'll be a plan when they're back on what to do moving forward. Ah that's not a rant, I think everything I've said has come out as one though [emoji38][emoji38]

Richard called me just now, no ec, no arthritis shown on xray (but he said there'll almost certainly be some) he suggested loxicom again, but when I said it didn't help he said I could decide or they could dispense whenever etc.

I asked him lots of questions, he just said everything is fine from her results from the tests... And to just see how she goes.. Said about getting her more active which I have been trying to do.. He said as long as she's dripping it's okay... Obviously not passing any urine is serious..

Honestly he clearly knows what's up, I think the issue here is no one seems to know what to say about it. I've got the same answers as my last vets tbh.. And no treatment going forward :( Idk what to do if I'm honest, I asked him going forward what to do, and he just said get her active and monitor her :(

Oh also - she doesn't have ec but she's had exposure to it.. And the test can see the antibodies? Also! Panacur doesn't get rid of ec...? The buns that recovered would have recovered anyway apparently! Which I thought was very interesting - side note from Clementine [emoji38]

Yes, with EC a one off blood test usually only indicates exposure to it. But if more classic EC symptoms were present-eg head tilt/hind leg weakness and the Titre test showed a relatively high level then it would be reasonable to assume that it was an 'active' case of EC. Panacur does not 'cure' EC, but it can reduce the amount of EC spores circulating in the Rabbit's bloodstream. Clinical symptoms of EC present quite some time after the actual protozoan parasite has been excreted. It is the spores left behind that can cause problems if they migrate to and and erupt within the CNS/Kidneys etc. Giving Panacur is more 'damage limitation' than an attempt to 'cure'.

What is Clementine's exact diet atm and is she free range 24/7 ? I assume she remains estranged from Atticus ?

Her exact diet -

Unlimited Timothy hay and sometimes a little oat hay from timothyhay.co.uk

Kale, ribwort, now broccoli plants too and grass (growing in trays) from the garden daily, also some supermarket veg and herbs I give them to her dripping in water.

She's now drinking highland spring water - she's been on ashbeck (the other three are still on ashbeck) for ages.. But she wasn't drinking anything so she drinks a tiny amount of highland spring each day, I'm in the process of trying to work out if she has a favourite water.

She has two of the oxbow urinary support tabs each day, and a fenugreek crunchie after her diuretic in the morning. Sometimes a dandelion root instead basically one of them as a treat after the syringe which has the diuretic in, a small amount of tap water and Ella's kitchen just the banana, baby food, I think it's called banana, banana, banana or something [emoji38]

Still apart from Atticus. She also eats dandelions and grass when she's outside most evenings now I obviously can't say how much of either but she does spend time grazing and I see her eating them.

She has a 6ft long cage with one of the doors permanently open and access to the living /dining room it's all one room it's 25ft x15ft and there's no door to the kitchen and she has access to there too which is roughly 13ft x 15ft, she has no time stuck in her cage, and she gets time outside too. Honestly she mainly spends time laying on the mat in the kitchen, in front of the fridge, or in her cage eating. She's been more active since I've put her in a pen outside, I bought her lots of new tunnels and things to explore and she's more active doing that, but inside she lays down a lot.. She's not always very happy outside though honestly she can get spooked :(

Kinda hoping you'll say that thing there! That's bad! And it'll all be fixed [emoji38][emoji38]

Would bonding her into a quad with Atticus and the Cali's be an option. I am just thinking that she may become a lot more active with other Rabbits to interact with and the animosity between her and Atticus may be defused if two other Rabbits are involved. It's a big ask and you'd need nerves of steel, but in the absence of any clinical cause of Clementines' symptoms I am wondering if looking at an environmental change may help.

One other thought, have you ever had any worries that Clementines' eyesight may not be great ?

That's the end goal and the dream, but realistically, it can't happen now, because my parents won't allow 4 rabbits free roaming the lounge area.. [emoji38] And I can't do outside because Atticus..

I have to say I'm really really worried that the bond will break everyone up.. And Penelope and Apricot won't be the same, they're so so closely bonded and so in love.. The thought of anything coming between that or ruining that breaks me - Idk if anyone has thoughts on that.. Because I know with bonding it can all go wrong and then you have 4 separates.. But yea I always wanted to have not just a pair.

Eyesight, I don't think so, she can spot me anywhere and she seems to know exactly what's up.. Penelope on the other hand.. Pretty sure she's blind.. Or nearing it.. [emoji38] Behavior is completely different. Clementine is very confident. I doubt it very much.

Thanks though I really appreciate you trying to think etc :)

I don’t have any advice really, Jane’s idea of a quad is a good one but as you say, the thought of it is scary  When I bonded my 2 pairs into a quad I was very scared  I was poised ready to pull the plug at the first sign of any trouble, but thankfully it was all ok  it is a risk though!

Yeaa I really want them all together, always have done.. Clementine and Atticus though.. My god.. They're such a pita [emoji38] they're highly strung and moody and just well not easy... Then I look at Penelope and Apricot and I just think man you don't need their bs [emoji38] like I feel bad subjecting them to it.. They're so perfect, happy and content... And just so sweet, pretty sure I've never met sweeter bunnies.. Feel like they're better off without the velvets drama [emoji38] don't get me wrong I love Clementine and Atticus, I love them all so much.. But they're very very different [emoji38][emoji38] almost polar opposites.. Idk if that'd work.. And the thought of breaking the white buns bond just doesn't seem right...

Also I'm like 100% Clementines eye sight is fine, she saw me at 1.30am bringing a kale leaf up the garden and got so excited [emoji38]

Been thinking about this all a lot.. Apparently there wasn't a load of sludge showing on the xray last week (some but not loads) if there's not a load of sludge... Why is it only coming out in drips? Why isn't there a stream of urine ever....?

Idk if anyone has any ideas.. But this is really bugging me!

Forgive me if you’ve already said but has she had her heart checked? I only ask as that was Phillip’s main symptom before his diagnosis. We thought for ages he had a UTI as he was leaving small wet patches but it ended up being to do with the excess fluid around his heart

Our vet thinks dusty does this because her repeated sludge issues have caused an irritation of her bladder (cystitis). And if you’ve ever had cystitis you’ll know you feel like you need to pee all the time but you only do dribbles

You know I don't even know! They've done bloods for everything by the sounds of it.. Idk if that'd be picked up via that?

Ah yea :/ it's really bothering me! I mean she has no infection, seems to be in no pain.. Seems fine.. There's not a load of sludge atm...I know when on fluids she can do a stream! [emoji849]

Phillip's was found via ultrasound/x-ray. I mean it probably isn't that since you know she's had sludge issues but just thought I'd mention it just in case.

Also have you tried cystaid/cystease?

No, what is that? Sorry [emoji38]

It’s a “A nutritional supplement for the management of lower urinary tract function in cats to help maintain a healthy bladder” - but it’s safe for rabbits too. (Though perhaps check with your vet first!)
Basically helps cats with urine infections/stones repair the bladder and prevent future problems.

Snowy is on it for her urine problems - might be worth a look for Clementine?
