  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

A question about Dennis

I'm pleased there appear to be no mite problem for Dennis. I hope Syrupy eats straight away today. Did uncle John say if OTC mite treatment is effective these days?

I didn't ask but I quess as he went straight for the injections that's the best course of treatment. I wouldn't want them to have anything topical really with grooming and what not.

They both eating now. Sponge is in her train and won't talk to me for the next few hours now. Denny still loves me

choo choo to Trawden, raid JB&M dried forage reserves

So pleased that the visit went ok for Dennis, hope the injection makes a difference. Poor Maple, I'm sure she'll come round soon, maybe a few treats will do it :D good luck trimming Dennis's barnett :thumb:

I've never used a spot on treatment and always gone to the vet for injections.
I find the dosage far more accurate that way.

I am glad your Den still loves you

I just slid some forage into the train and its been tucked into by both bunnies. They are both having a slumber now (it's a first class carage)

I'm glad the vet visit went well. I've no experience of any skin conditions, but the treatment and advice seems sensible. I'm also glad that both rabbits are eating now they're home.

I should ask Dennis, and of course Maple, what you should do about cutting his mane.
