Friend's rabbit hasn't eaten or drunk by herself in 2 weeks

I'm sorry to say that this afternoon after two days at the vets the bunny was put down. The vet finally emailed a specialist and I guess at this point that was the result. I'll leave it there as I'm very upset and honestly angry with the whole situation.

Friend's rabbit hasn't eaten or drunk by herself in 2 weeks

Thank you for all of this, I have passed it on. The rabbit's currently in the vets for the past day and night. They've injected her stomach with antibiotics today and they are doing checks but my friend hasn't signed anything for a GA, which I'm guessing would have had to happen. No x-ray also...

Friend's rabbit hasn't eaten or drunk by herself in 2 weeks

As per the title. My friend doesn't live in my country so I can't 'send' her to my exotics vets who are great. Her vets' recommendation for metacam is very different to ours (if working out different kg etc). She's giving the bunny 0.4mg for a 2.5kg bunny twice a day. We give ours ~1.5mg for...

Looking for another hay supplier and advice for constant statis

Sarah, I'm seeing that as a possibility :( They would be devastated but we can't keep doing as we are.

Looking for another hay supplier and advice for constant statis

Thank you all. I'm a bit late replying because we had another stasis incident. Different bun (the usual one but not the one who I made the post about) but thankfully we managed to get her eating and the vet appointment was cancelled. We have bought some hay from haybox and are happy with the...

Looking for another hay supplier and advice for constant statis

When we first got our rabbits we bought the Pets at Home hay, which we never saw any issues with however we noticed the quality was awful so we switched to the hay from timothyhay.co.uk. Unfortunately, whilst it makes sense that boxes from there will differ in colour and quality, we've had...

    Opinion from you guys please

Hi all. Went out to my rabbits this morning who were in their shed. One of them has always been a lot more laid back, goes into deep sleeps, plays a bit less. But this morning he just seems more tired. He was asleep when I went in the shed but hasn't really woken completely - he's out in his...

    Flystrike

Is there any way to 'train' or get rabbits comfortable with bum checks? Mine are still young and there's little worry but they go nuts if I pick them up to check (they do that sudden twist away - I worry about their backs) and then they'll stay away from me so it usually has to be a case of...

    Pet sitter/boarding in Hampshire area

Thank you anyway :) No worries. You've got to have breaks :) Thank you for the recommendations, I'll have a look at them. :) Do you take pets into your home or do you do daily visits?

    Pet sitter/boarding in Hampshire area

Can anyone recommend a boarder/pet sitter for bunnies? I'm having trouble finding places that make vaccinations mandatory, but realise it could just be that it's not on the websites. I looked into Chestnut Corner but they're closed for now.

    Rabbits chewing lino etc

Hoping this is the right sub-forum for this :? The buns are eating the lino covering the kickboard in the shed. (We've got the lino going up the sides of the shed a little way in order to protect the walls from wee.) From what I can tell most of it wasn't ingested, though a little seemed to...

    Straw and brick dust

We had a builder in last week and unfortunately the boxes of straw we've got have some brick dust on them (thought it would be far enough away). The top of the boxes are sealed with sellotape but there are handles on the side that aren't sealed over. Is it salvageable or do I need to buy new...

    Post-spay help badly needed!

To update (and thank you for that, tonibun, we kept her in) she's got to be inside a few more days but after that the vet said we can start the pre-bonding process. Reason for the extra bed rest is that in the understandable process of going stir-crazy, she pushed past me one evening when I was...

    Post-spay help badly needed!

That's right, no external stitches - there are some but they're inside, with the glue having been on the external area. She's doing well. Just had her last dose of metacam and the wound is now a small red line. The metacam has maybe worked too well - more throwing herself around the place...

    Post-spay help badly needed!

Hi Tonibun, no, she has one next week as requested by the vet. Unless you mean us checking her over which we do once a day.
