  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hi all, pepper my 9wk old lop has got abit of a runny nose.its not properly running but shes got dried fluid at the side.could this mean shes got a cold or do bunnies get runny noses?also, when you pick her up she makes like a clicking sound.is this because ses frightened?her heart always beats very fast.very nervy bunny.thinking of taking her the vets but thought id ask you lot first.always like you help and advice.
thanks.xxx:)

It could be a huge number of things truthfully but definately not normal. In light of your young bunny dying suddenly too I would want to get this baby checked out asap by the vet. What are the eyes/bottom like?

hya her eyes are bright n bum is clean.had her in the front room n she was jumping around doing little twists.realy funny.she looked happy?:? x

Given all the unexplained sudden deaths you have had I think ALL your Rabbits need to be examined by a veterinary surgeon ASAP. Until you are certain there is no pathogen on your premises I would NOT take in any more Rabbits. I would also not allow any of your present Rabbits to mate

hi jane, all my remaining rabbits are babies.never breeding again.going to get them all in the vets when i can get an appointment.x

Sounds like she needs antibiotics so take her to the vets I guess - Vet may need to do a test on the bacteria in the snot, which costs around £30 but is worth the money as the wrong antibiotic is money wasted.
