Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sympathy pains when one bun is ill? Been to vets

I know this sounds a bit silly but has anyone else found that if one of a bonded pair is ill the other sometimes seems to act strangely in sympathy?

Audrey seems pretty much completely better, but now Rowan seems to be very quiet. I dont know if Im just being paranoid but he doesnt seem quite right. The vet checked his teeth the other day too and he was fine.

I didnt know if it was the sudden drop in the temperature if its not because of 'sympathy' with Audrey?

When I had Esmerelda and Hann, Esmerelda stopped eating like Audrey and it was her teeth also and then a couple of days later Hann did the same and had to have his done.

Any thoughts? I obviously will take him to the vets if it seems there is defiently something wrong.

When Rosie was was spayed the recovery didn't go very well, we had a number of vet trips then Leo, her husbun, stopped eating so we had to go the emergency vet for him. I don't know if it's true or not but I believe his problem was because he was 'worried' about her. I had also made the mistake of bringing her inside and leaving him out in the hutch so that didn''t help his situation.

Yes!!! That has been the story of my life since September. Funnily enough, its has always been genuine conditions that the others have had. Like your other buns, mines needed dentals straight after one another. How strange isn't it.

Well Ive had to take him to the vets this morning.

His stomach started making gurgling noises last night, small poos and he was refusing most of the foods I gave him and usually he's really greedy so off to the vets we went.

Vet said he had tiny spurs on his teeth, but did them anyway.
And gave his metaclop stuff.

And I have to take him back in the morning, but might not do if he seems ok

AAaaagghhhhhhh!!!!!!

Bless wee bunny!

You have done the right thing by your little bunster. Hope he is on the mend soon
