  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Roxy advice please...update

I had a feel of Roxy's sides earlier (just behind her rib cage) as she got quite annoyed when I picked her up and made a sort of squeeking sound so I presumed she must be in pain. I 'm quite sure I can feel a hard bulge. Not like an abscess more internal if that makes sense. She did not flinch or react in any way as if it hurt her when I was feeling it. She is a neutered female but was only neutered at 2yrs. I have come back tonight and it appears to still be there. My o/h says he can't feel anything.
I'm going to take her to the vets anyway on Thursday. she seems ok in herself although she does seem to want more attention but I don't know whether its just me reading things into it. I wanted to check if any one thought it sounded more serious and might need more urgent attention.

Neutering females removes the uterous and ovaries completely so it doesn't matter what age it's done it stops them getting uterine cancer :)

It might be her tummy you're feeling?

As long as she's eating/pooping then seeing the vet thurs is okay :) If you're worried you could always give the vet a ring :)

It seems to have gone now  I think it was perhaps her full tummy. My oh proudly said that he'd given them a handful of food (I had already fed them :? ) he was trying to be helpful. Its the only time he's ever dnt it without being asked. ohwell. She does seem fine in herself and is pooping like usual :D

You did well to spot it and glad it seems to have been nothing....however if you feel an odd lump again best to get a vet to check it out..give her a stroke from me and tell her not to scare her mum! :D

Hello, Well I have just got back from the vets and she said that she thinks it is her tummy protruding. This makes sense as she is a greedy little blighter, bless her cotton socks! Oh well it has put my mind at ease. Thanks for the advice guys.
