  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can I just check whether anyone puts drops in their buns ears regularly. I haven't ever done this but wondered if i should be?

Yes, I check mine regularly too but I just wondered if I ought to be putting drops in to stop any build up of yukky stuff?? I don't feel such a bad mum now...

if it aint broke dont fix it
unless there is a discharge or obvious signs of somthing amiss (in which its a vet trip) other than a quick check you shouldn't need to do anything.

Hi Wizbit i have alway put drops in Honeys ear since she has come to me, when i took her to the vets she had a bad case of ear mites that was in Febuary & she still suffers with her ears.
I only put the drops in once a week now & the vet cleans them out with cotton wool buds, the vet said i can do this but i am scared i will hurt her so i leave it to the vet has she is there every week any way.
My sisters rabbit has never had ear drops & she wouldn't use them.
