Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Oliver keeps collapsing in the heat..

Mama Doe
Hello.

Oliver is my biggest bun - he weighs a kilo more than the other 3.
He's also a complete mummy's boy and soppy sod!!!

The other 3 are coping fine with the heat but Oliver's not really.

All the buns sleep in my bedroom at night with me and my partner. (The bedroom's the coolest room)

They have a fan on constantly, lots of water, frozen water bottles etc.

Oliver lies down every so often panting and when you feel his ears they're quite warm. This happened this morning when I was getting ready for work. The other 3 buns were fine.

I wet Oliver's ears and he got up after about 30 secs and seemed to be ok.

Is there anything I can do particulaly for Oliver while I'm not there - Like I said he's already got a fan and frozen bottles. I'm worried that he's too daft to lie on anything cold when I put it near him - he's not the sharpest tool in the box!!!

Just worried because he was struggling with the heat on Saturday when the others were fine too.

It sounds like you are pretty much doing everything you can. As long as he has shade, cold bottles to lay against, water to drink and a fan, I can't think of anything else you could do...

They do all seem to cope differently, one of mine copes better with heat than the other..

Maybe others will have more useful advice!?
