Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hey guys just wanted to quickly check if vaseline is ok to use on rabbits? i know you can use it on horses and g.pigies ok so presumed that rabbits should be ok too especially since it was probably orginally tested on them.

But now that ive put it on Alfie im questioning whether ive done the right thing??typical me!

Its for a patch of dry skin- the vet did have a look at it when he went for his VHD jabe the other day and said didn't look like 'walking dandruff' his immune system alone should be able to deal with whatever it is. So i thought may be try some vaseline to see if it would help clear up the dry flakeyness.

Anyone used vaseline on rabbits before?
Many thanks kristin and Alfie xxxx

I had to put vaseline on Amy vets instructions! though for dry skin I'd prob go for sudocream

phew 8) thats good then, thanks for that i was just worrying because he seems to be licking it rather alot, i thought probably because he just wants to get it off but was kinda worried it may be irritating him. Expect Alfie being Alfie his just annoyed that ive put it on him. Thank You! :D
