  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advise please

bunnies

Alpha Buck
I`m house sitting in late jan for 3 weeks as my friend is going away and i`m moving in to her house to look after her 3 horses and cats.

I can`t take my bunnies with me as i`m worried about foxes and they are around as i`ve seen them and the cats.

So my mum is feeding, checking and opening up their bunny shed in the morning and i`m going at 3.30 to muckout and check. Will it be ok for them if i close up the door then and make ready for night time?

Normally i don`t close the door till 10pm when i go to bed, they have access to their run throught a opening in the shed wall

Perhaps you could gradually start putting them away a bit earlier each day before you go to housesit, so it's not such a dramatic change?

That should be fine. It will be cold and nearly dark by then anyway. I always put my rabbits away just before dark, which at the moment is round about 3:30 :( In the summer it is after 10.

When the Rabs were outside I always locked them safely up before dark and before you know it we will be putting the clocks forward again!
