Cleaning up Messy Bums *New Problem*

Hi all!

I was just wondering what works best for cleaning messy bums. Holly has grown quite a bit since I got her and she now is beginning to have trouble keeping her bum and back feet clean. What can I do to clean her up?

Thanks!

I think someone mentioned cornflour the other week? Dont try it though till someone verifies it!!

hi

Jay has tried the cornflour thing - it works apparently - cornstarch in America, for cooking. See this article too - you really need to figure out why she's having a sticky bum - if she's overweight she needs to cut out pellets and go on hay, if it's too much veg or the wrong type, or if she's old she may be arthritic - important to tackle it as she's in danger of flystrike in summer.

I have been using a combination of baths (in a washing up bowl) to soften it with a tiny bit of johnsons baby bath, trimming away the matted or long fur, sudocreme on the sore bits and gentle sponging off with damp cotton wool!

Finally got the last bit of poo off of her tail tonight and was v chuffed! lol

Okay, took Holly to the vet a few weeks ago and they said she is perfectly healthy. I groomed her with corntarch and all was well. Last weekend I needed to regroom her and it was really bad, I groomed out 3 mats and a good fistfull of hair. She is already in need of another clean up though! She drinks about 48 oz of water a day, and I have stopped giving her pellet, she has also had as much has as she wants (which is a lot!)

Do I need to just keep grooming her once or twice a week?
