  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

bored in just month??

That's so daft . Surely the parents should realise that they'll have to look after it, young children cannot be expected to clean hutches and feed rabbits. Some people seem to treat pets as toys. Grrr

Bored of it !!!! did the mother buy it as a toy....as it sure sounds like it.....grrrrr

I wish pet shops would put up notices stressing the comitment of looking after an animal and what is required and cost etc....then maybe people would think twice about buying the pet rather than trying to rehome it a month down the line.

definitely! I remember talking once to a girl about my age who was begging her mum for rabbit - i soon put her off 'oh the poos stink and the wee - well its just everywhere, and you have to clean it out everyday, have you seen the prices of the hutches? quite good here arent they! just over £200 for one thats just about big enough - still the cuddles you get make up for it, at least till they chew all your clothes up - then they can start to get annoying. But other than that bunnies are just great!' Hahaha 'oh well i didnt realise that - mum how about one of these toy ones instead?'

OMG, poor bunny! How could they be bored with it when they have only had it a month!?!?!?

The way that guy wrote it too, it was like..."yea the kids are bored with it and I'm not taking care of it, so who cares", thats what it sounded like with the words he chose and the way he acted by just giving it to anyone that would take it online. What do adults expect when they add a new pet into the family, they know that if their kids want one, they have to take full responsibility for it too, and obviously this guy didn't even care....ughhhh
