The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. a test for your bunnyfied brains!!

hehe, ok, I have a four month old male cross breed bunny, He's similar size to a dutch. I'm planning on getting him castrated soon. I'd like to get him a friend, what are your thoughts on... A) having a different breed of bunny, I quite fancy a Dwarf or Mini lop, B) having another castrated male?? My boy is not overly affectionate, he'd rather just run round the house recking stuff!! I think he may be frustrated so the op will help (fingers crossed!!) I've always had bunnies in pairs and I know how they like to snuggle up together but I'm not sure what to do for the best for this little chap!
Please help!!!!

Well from hearing other people's stories it doesnt really matter waht the breed is, a dwarf or mini lop i would think would be totaly fine with a dutch sized rabbit. Most people recommend a male and female pair rather than 2 of the same sex as they do tend to bond easier, but i do know of people on here who do have same sex pairs which are happy together. Maybe you can take you rabbit to your local rescue (woodgreen possibly?) and see who he likes himself.

I dont see why a different breed of rabbit would cause you any problems, I have a medium bunny and a lionhead and they get on great.

If you get him castratd and wait for about 6 weeks for his hormones to settle you may be able to bond him with another male. The only problem may be that they could fight, male rabbits can be a bit more teritorial but there are people that have successfully bonded same sex pairs, I think it just depends on the bunnies.

I will never regret pairing mine up as they seem really content in each others company.

good luck.

Breed doesn't matter. Personality is key. Take him along to a rescue to meet some potential girlfriends (once he's neutered, no sooner than 2 weeks later), and see who he takes a shine to. Good luck.
