  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbit scan

I spoke to my vet earlier and he wants to give Darby a scan of her abdomen. It was a bit of a shock. My fiance is phoning them tommorrow for more info but im abit worried and wondered if any of you guys have had to get a bun scanned and have some info. Thanks x

Well the vet was checking her to see if he could tell whether she's spayed or not. We'd been told by the rescue centre she was but he wanted to confirm it. He said he could feel something so we did a blood test. Now the blood test suggests she is spayed he is wondering what the lump he could feel was.

He said it could have been her bowels but he wants to make sure. He isn't charging for the scan so I'm hoping it's just a bit of curiosity rather than concern.

If he isn't charging I would go for it, she probably won't even need to be sedated.

It would be interesting to him to check what he is feeling in case he feels it on another rabbit and it is actually perfectly normal.
