  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help please

I would trim the hair above his eyes carefully with round ended scissors. You might be able to do it whilst he's eating something tasty.

Does he not allow you to brush him? If it was me, I'd ask the vets to clip/shave him so that he didn't need daily grooming. Have you tried giving him something tasty and then grooming him whilst he is distracted?

I have tried that. He is going to the vet next month to get sprayed so may ask them to do it while he is sleeping

Can you get someone who can hold bunny firmly while you snip some fur off? Have you got a male bunny as it's females who get spayed :thumb:

What a cute bunny. long haired breeds are very hard work, mine get brushed daily and have hair cuts at least twice a month more if needed.
Unfortunately your rabbit is likely to be more aggressive if he cannot see properly. Get someone else to hold him if you need help to groom him, as others have suggested your vet may be able to clip him for you.
