Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Litter tray after a spay

My wee Rosie had her spay, all went well but she's lying in her litter tray with back to nature in it. What should I do thanks

I'm not sure what back to nature is, I used newspaper in my girls litter tray when they were first home from their spay, so that loose stuff didn't stick to the wound. The main thing is to keep the litter tray clean. Is she eating and drinking ok?

Definitely make sure there's nothing in the litter tray that could irritate her wound. Newspaper sounds like a good idea, Zoobec. I hope she's feeling better soon!

She's eating really well, I'll put newspaper in now on top of it. Back to nature is wee cardboard pellets

Ah ok, I normally use woodpellet cat litter but for the time the wound was healing I used newspaper, and I put the hay in a rack too. Glad she is eating well :thumb:

I used the normal litter I have been using (wood pellets) I just made sure to check the wounds several times a day. It never had bits stuck to it luckily!! Newspaper is a good idea though although will need changing daily.

I have a vet bed she's finally lying on it and not in her litter tray [emoji3]
