  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

This may be a stupid question sorry! but I'm just back from holiday and the friend that had clover still has a cat who has fleas? Could clover have gotten them or are bunny and cat fleas different? This sound so stupid to ask haha!!

AFAIK they are the same, sorry, don't want to upset you. My Bridge bunny, Oscar only had fleas twice but they were both following a stay at the vets, so I'm assuming he got them via other animals who were staying there. :(

Okay I'll pop to the vets tomorrow and get some xeno just invade anyway. I thought they would be but just wanted to ask lol xx

I don't think you should treat them for just in case, you need to see if they actually have fleas first. The treatment has chemicals in so don't use unless you reall HAVE to.

I agree with Suzi - wait and see if you have a problem before treating :D

Rabbits can catch two types of fleas - cat fleas and rabbit fleas.

Sorry what I meant was going to get a tube incase i found them on her, so I had treatment on hand. Ended up fine anyway no fleas were found :)
