  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bladder prolapse

Finlay

New Kit
On Friday night i noticed pippin's bum was a little smelly so i obviously went to clean it. And i noticed what i thought was a lump, we got an appointment on Saturday morning and the vet quickly told us her bladder had prolapsed. I found this strange as she was passing urine and poo normally and there was only a very small amount of blood (which i thought was red urine as she had a small ammount of veggies the night before) We rushed her to the other practice which carries out operations and she was quickly taken in for the op. A few hours later vet phoned me to say she could be picked up at 3:40. When i got there the vet told us what happened in the op and said it went well. We've got another appointment on Monday for a check up.
But this morning i noticed that her bladder wasn't fully back in and i'm really worried that it's came out again and i don't want to wait until tomorrow to find out and i don't want her suffering. Emergency vets?

Yep, it were me seeing that ... Definitely!!

All the best , poor wee Pippin xxx
