  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Off to vets with Holly pig

bunslave

Mama Doe
:( she can't walk. I know sudden onset of back end paralysis can be treated well in piggies so hope it's something straightforward.

Good luck at the vets.

My Tilly pig had the same thing, had X rays and she has Osteoporosis.

Thank you all xx
She's had x rays which didn't show any damage thankfully although hip bones are a bit less dense than they should be. She's had antibiotic and painkiller jabs and I'm just off to Boots to get some osteocare in case its a calci crash. :(

good news there is no damage. i hope the osteocare helps and she's feeling better soon. give her a cuddle from us x

 She's moving slightly better when I get her out for meds and actually asked for her dinner without me having to handfeed :D
Still not eating pellets but loves the osteocare which is orange flavoured. Think I'll start taking it too ;) Poops are v. small but she has wee'ed and have heard her chomping hay. So,fingers crossed, she's on the mend.
Poor Spike can't understand why he can't get to her though and complains a lot!
