Introducing a new rabbitt to a bonded pair

New Kit
I have two rabbits that live in a 2 level cage which is 2 metres long. They have a large play area attached to their cage which is about 15 metres squared, and is easily extended if needed. I am thinking of getting a third dwarf rabbit, so my question is do I have enough space and how do you introduce a new rabbit to an already bonded pair? Thanks

Here is a link to the rwaf page which gives guidelines on hutch and run sizes. Those sizes are in ft though. If your hutch is at least 6ft x 2ftx2ft and your run is at least 8ftx4ft and preferable 3ft high then you should have enough space. I think from what you have said you have more than enough space :thumb: http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/ahutchisnotenough.htm

And here is a link to a bonding sticky on bonding trios, have a read through that to see if it is useful to you :thumb: it can be very problematic adding another rabbit to a group, causing the original pair/group to fall out. I wouldn't advise it personally

Thanks for that, I think I will take the advice and not add in a third as it seems it could ruin the bond the two have together.

I'm sure you've made the right decision: I think sometimes what seems a nice idea can lead to disaster - and it is just better to be pleased you have a happily bonded couple.
