  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Some of you may have seen my other post, but my rabbit died this morning at 9. It's now 2:45 in the afternoon. I hate asking this because it pains me to think of him being under the ground. But I need my older brother to help me dig the hole to bury him in and he is not available until tomorrow afternoon. Will it be ok to wait until then? Before the burial I want to place something in the box with my bun but I do not want to see or smell anything disturbing because I am already emotionally damaged from this. I am sorry for the gruesome question and I hate to ask it but I don't really have a choice. He is in a shoe box right now in our shed where no animals can get to him. It is going to be 60 degrees today and tomorrow so I don't know what to do. Is it ok to wait? Should I try to bury him myself?

you could either put something in the box now and say goodbye, or if you have somewhere cold, you could keep your bunny there until tomorrow. it's not nice to talk about i know  x

I am very sorry you have lost your bunny. If you put him in a plastic bag you could then put him in the fridge or wrap him in a towel and put him in the fridge.
