  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Can anyone help me my male netherland dwarf is acting strange in the last hr he looks irritated shuffling about and lying down as flat as he can get legs sprayed out but moving about constantly he is acting like it's 90 in the shade panting and lying flat what's wrong with him xx

He needs to see a vet immediately.

The not being able to get comfy could be stomach pain/discomfort - however, panting as well, could be a lot of things.

Has he pooped/eaten/drunk in the last 6 hrs?

He is showing signs of acute abdominal pain, a Rabbit in severe pain will have an increased respiratory rate (panting). He needs to see a Vet as a matter of urgency

Good luck

He was eating this morning but not since he's been like this it's only been the last hr it's happened so quick x

The fact its happened quickly would be even more of concern to me. Rabbits hide problems far too well and so by the time they show problems, its always serious.

Please get him to a vet asap.
