Joining two hutches

Hi there, I have been thinking about attaching poppy and binkies hutch on to the other matching hutch. They are currently next door to each other but with a little gap (5") in between. They both have a little lip on the roof so can't put them closer together.
Do I put a tube/pipe or a wooden box thing in between to connect them both?

Could you get a runaorund tube and use that? Or build a wooden connector as you said?

When I bought 2 second hand hutches they were joined by the previous owner making a wooden square box section of thick plywood the size of the gap between the hutches and screwed in place to both hutches, with a correspondingly sized hole cut in each hutch to link them, it worked really well as it was a large aperture for the buns to pass through from one hutch to another :thumb:
