Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

soft poo remedy?

Jens

New Kit
hello  im looking after my brothers house rabbit and she has soft squashy poos is there something i can give her to help? i've heard strawberry leaves are supposed to help but is there anything else, she is hopping poo patches all over the carpet lol

hay water and mixed rabbit food i know its not the best food but she's not my bunny and occasional not daily carrot n a rare bite of a banana she doeesnt have soft poos all the time though

How much muesli is she fed?

I'd cut out carrot and banana completely, even if she doesn't get them a lot. Make sure she has plenty of hay topped up regularly to encourage hay eating, mine love getting fresh hay and don't stop eating it for ages!

If she doesn't have them all the time then I imagine it has to be something in her diet. If you can find out what it is then you can help to educate your brother as soft poos can get stuck to rabbits bums, then they could be at more risk of flystrike, sores etc.
