Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Ringworm in rabbits

Does anyone know how to tell if a rabbit has ringworm?

My ds 9 has ringworm on his arm. I have throughly checked all the rabbits and can't see anything on them. No red or flaky skin.

All a bit puzzled by it. I don't think he has had any contact with any other animals so my rabbits are the only cause i can think of.

They get little sores which are often itchy so I'd expect the buns to be scratching. Most common place is the head/face area.

Thank you Checked everyone over. Faces are fine and no sores or inflamed skin. All very strange.

Even got the vet nurse to have a look and she can't see anything on the boys or Belle. She suggested it was picked up from someone else or another animal.

Just going to keep a eye on them and see if anything comes up.

I didn't realise ringworm could be picked up from animals - thought it was from human contact.
