Loxicom dose question

Hi everyone my rabbit Casey has arthritis and has been prescribed Loxicom (dog) 1ml once a day. I'm going to call my vet and query this as I thought she was prescribing twice daily, as it was my understanding that's best practice for rabbits? Does anyone have any experience on usual dosage amounts for rabbits so I can discuss it with her please? He's 2.8kg so is 1ml a reasonable amount? I asked her to prescribe the higher end of the recommended amount. Am I right to ask for it to be twice daily or is once a day OK?

My vets tend to prescribe low & work their way up if necessary, so not higher end. To me it sounds fine, my Mousey was the same weight & prescribed metacam for arthritis & was on 0.6mls daily but split in to 2 doses. I'd just contact your vet & ask if they agree splitting the 1ml into 2 doses would be ok owing to the speed they process it

I would discuss the specifics with your vet. There is quite a wide dosage range and the option of once or twice a day. Different circumstances may do better with different regimes, and your vet can give you their reasons for what they prescribed. You could give it try and see how it goes, then discuss tweaking things if you feel it could be working better.
