Bunny coming inside to live

Roly Poly

Warren Veteran
Have finally sorted everything out and made a decision to bring our little man indoors to live.

Crate/pen arrived this morning, bought all the bits for it over the weekend so will be setting it up shortly.

I really hope I'm doing the right thing for him, I hope he will adjust ok. For us it will be lovely to spend more time with him. He will free range when we're at home and just use the pen when we're out and at night.

Have decided to do it all today as its quite mild here at the moment so am hoping that the change won't affect him too much.

Any advice on helping him adapt would be gratefully received.

Thanks xx

Yay! :)

He will love it. I would say just to let him in as you normally do and leave a few treats in the crate, let him explore at his own pace.

That is brilliant news. You will all have so much more fun together and your bunny will love it. Just don't have him by a hot radiator, and remember about keeping cables etc out of his way. Dipsy has the yellow pages and gets loads of fun out of ripping that up, and the tubes in loo rolls stuffed with hay, are what he likes to throw about etc, whilst eating hay at the same time. I always feel really happy when I hear about a bunny going to become a house bun, and how I personally think they have a much better quality of life, hence why they tend to live longer. I know lots of bunnies are very happy outside and with friends, but it wouldn't be for me. Inside they are members of the family, and when you get to really know your bun, outside they are well outsiders, and I hate the thought of that, especially when a single bun. You will have so much fun and find your bunny so entertaining.

He's now moved in and seems to have settled really well and we all love having him inside. I like the idea of the yellow pages and loo rolls but when I've tried things like that before he seems to eat the paper/cardboard so a bit worried about that!

Really? Dipsy has probably eaten a few little bits of paper but he really enjoys ripping it up and I end up clearing all the bits up. Found treat balls today that on ebay are £7 and in The Range £3, he's going to love that. Keep a look out at the supermarket when you go shopping, as I often pick up boxes that he likes jumping up on to, and I got one box and my daughter and myself sat for ages tearing up newspapers, to make his best toy ever, his 'paper' pit. OMG he goes mad in there digging, paper flying out everywhere, but it's easy to clean up and so funny to watch. Have you heard your bun before making his bunny noises?

Doughnut likes nibbling my lining paper so I've put plastic corners on it to stop her. Also cable covers on all my wires.

I love having her indoors, I end up watching her rather than the tv!

I love having my bunnys indoors too. They are so much fun. Hope he likes his move indoors okay. If you get a chance put up some pictures :D

How is Doughnut doing? I've been thinking about her and wishing her well. Really feel for you, it's just been terrible hasn't it.

Will try and get some pictures of him, he's a bit of a nightmare when I get the camera out. As soon as he he sees it, he comes over straight away to investigate and nearly ends up on my lap!

I've updated my post.

After 3 months the specialist has her today and has said something is wrong in her oesophagus, he is doing tests. Thankfully he has confirmed she is not right after her being observed for 2 day by another specialist and saying nothing is wrong.

Will find this evening. Fingers crossed it is treatable.
