Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

After 8 weeks Doughnut is still no better. Was in pain last night trying to sort of stretch her stomach and making all noises again. Her urine or the liquid coming out of her with her poop smells acidic.

Took her back to the vets, she said she is bloated and she can't even feel her stomach, so to go back to the specialist as she thinks is serious. Seeing the specialist at 2.40 today.

She's still eating though but just wonder what it could be that the vet is concerned. Can't face it being really bad news, can't stop crying today. Just want her well again.

Aww so sorry doughnut isn't well sending loads a get well vibes and fingers crossed its something they can help her with xx

They originally thought it was coccodiosis, then the specialist thought she was unwell because the antibiotics had upset her ph balance. It's definitely something else though. She is constantly wet as well, not sure if that's the urine or the liquid which comes out with her fecal poop.

Just worrying it's bad news but will try and stay positive.

Stay positive and strong, Doughnut needs you to be to get her through this. Laugh and be happy with her today so she is strong and positive as well xx

So sorry she is still unwell,
What specialist are they sending you to?

Got everything crossed for you, try to stay positive for her x

I've been to this specialist before as when she didn't get any better after 4 weeks, I took her there. It's Sandyhole Vets in Snodland. They are very good. I can't see my normal specialist as she is off and going on maternity leave in a few weeks anyway but seeing Monica instead. I'm sure she's just as good.

I am at a loss as to what is wrong but thought she looked very bloated and has is putting on more and more weight. Maybe it is all the liquid in her caecum. Just want some answers now they thought she would get better when her ph balance was correct, but looks like it wasn't that.

Think they may keep her overnight which will probably be a good thing so they can observe her and hear all the noises and see the pain she is in on and off. She's still eating though. Keep thinking it may be like colic pains, they come and go but obviously that's just a guess.

Good luck with Doughnut later I really hope she manages to pull through this and her issues get sorted. All you can do is the best for her and I think you will know if it all gets to much if she stops eating etc. I think it will go one way or the other you know what rabbits are like sometimes you wish so much for them to recover and they take a turn for the worst and other times you think that's it and then they manage to pull through! Anyway I hope its the latter one for Doughnut but whatever the outcome you have done you best x

Thanks everyone.

They are keeping her in over night. Hopefully they will hear the awful noises she keeps making which sounds like a cough.

They will xray her tomorrow. Because she is so small they said she will fit on one plate so will look at her bladder, stomach, teeth and lungs. Her teeth aren't great, they don't think they are that bad but will sort them out anyway, but obviously the xray will show if there is more going on.

She was still happy and lively but it seems to come in waves as last night she was in pain. Also the vet said about she had a lot of scours because of the urine.

Anyway a bit worried about the gas but just hope they find something minimal. Got to call at 1 tomorrow for the results and because I'm working will pick her up about 6.30.

Well at least she is in now for a thorough check...keeping fingers crossed for you that they find the problem and manage to treat it x

Thank you, how's your little one.

I'm just thinkingif the worst happens I can honestly say I've done everything I can for her. I haven't got the money but I have always put her first and seeked the best medical advice when she's been ill. I just want peace of mind.

You should think the same, you've done all you can. Hope you get a good result. xx

Hope they can find out what's going on and treat it. Thinking of you and Doughnut. Xx
