Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Small bald patches on back

New Kit
Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well.

I have noticed that Lennie (our doe) has a view bald patches on her back. They are between the size of a 20p and 50p coin but don't look sore or inflamed. There feels like there is a scab on one of them but it is difficult to tell as the fur appears to be growing back.

We are bonding her at the moment so I guess they might be from nipping but could she be pulling the fur out herself due to the heat or could there be something else?

Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.

bald patches

Hi

If the skin isn't red or inflamed then it doesnt sound like mites, my male had this and i realised that i had caused it by over enthusiastic grooming (in our case) if you are bonding at the moment try and keep an eye on the bunnies cause as you say it could be that the bunny is being nibbled, but as long as you arent seeing any sore bits or blood and the fur is growing back it sounds ok,but if bunny shows signs of worsening then she should see a vet, when i spotted this on my buck i gave him a bath is bunny anti mite shampoo just as a precaution as i couldnt see anything on him, then of course i realised that i had just brushed him too much lol:)
