Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Tear duct infection

Hello,

I have a 5 month old bunny that has had continual runny eyes for about 2 months, does anyone have any suggestions on wha to do, I am new to looking after bunnies and just want to do what is best for him.

Hi :)

my bunny pepper used to get runny eyes . This was due to a blocked tear duct . I would make an appointment for your little one with the vet as he may need eye drops/tear duct flushed . If it keeps reoccuring then maybe consider skull xrays as he could be getting this due to an overgrown tooth root .

As MoBo has already said try wiping them with warm water

He might need antibiotics like tiacil, which is for tear duct infections.

His ducts may also need to be flushed under GA if the antibiotics don't help.

Teeth roots can also cause runny eyes, go to the vets and get him health checked.
