  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Neuter!

Young Bun
What Age Should My Max Be Neutered? I don't really know his age right now. I'm guessing 10-12 weeks by size. He is definitely a male, I posted a photo of him in a thread titled Breeds?? under "Rabbit Chat". If anyone cared to take a look and get back to me with an guesstamated age that would be great! Once again, I thank any and all replies!!!

As soon as his plums drop. :D
I think with giant breeds it's better to wait until they're fully grown and of course it depends on health. I would look for a really good rabbit vet. A lot of vets don't really know what they're doing with rabbits as they're classed as exotics so it's best to find one that's done the extra research.

Thank You Jenova! Seeing how he has his little plums now, I guess it would be a good time to find a great vet. I have one that took great care of the maltese I had for ten years, named George Harrison <3. He was my son, before my son! I will give him a call and see if I think he will be trustworthy with my Max. Also, do bunnies get vaccs??

Yes they do in England. I don't know where you are. :D
They can be vaccinated against myxomatosis and VHD which are both horrible. There is a new combined vaccine which has just come out which protects against both and lasts for a year.
