Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum, so I'm really sorry if this has already been asked/mentioned.....

My rabbit has the evil EC but the only symptoms she's really had is her pupils have got the cataracts look but also looks like there are bits of something in them now.

I've started treating her with Lapizole for 28 days but I didn't ask the vet how severe hers was does anyone know because she's had no head tilt or anything it's just the eyes at the moment.

I have only had experience with EC and Head Tilt or Hind Leg weakness so can't be of much help, but wanted to wish you and your little one the best of luck, it really is a horrible disease :(

Thanks guys,

Mojo is such a lovely rabbit, it's just horrible to see her eyes the way they are, I'm hoping it's not going to get any worse.

She gets a bit more defensive when you get her out and cuddle her I'm assuming it's because of the lack of sight, but she's ok once you start cuddling her and she calms down. She seems her normal self otherwise.

:wave:So sorry about Mojo. EC is a dreadful disease as I experienced with Basil. It effects in different ways, for us it was Head tilt and nystagmus (twitching eyes). I hope Mojo will make a good recovery:)

I have experience of EC causing head tilt, paralysis and blindness, all have responded well to treatment, all different rabbits howing one symtom, never more, however, when Summer was rehomed to me, one of her eyes was too far gone and needed to be removed. She is entirely blind and a bit brain damaged from EC but she is a happy wee soul.

Hope Mojo copes ok :D.
