Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

pics of anal polyps/papillomas...warning graphic

These are pics of a serious bunny anal polyp.......my bertie has finally had his removed as a quick surgery today. For years it was a tiny reddish clump that would be seen poking out of his botty from time to time...no vet knew what it was. The vets who did know were wary as he has breathing probs and seizures due to the pasturella. This particular vet has been amazing in treating bertie....and said yes it will grow back at some point but hed gave a light gas...would wake up soon as gast was stopped. He said the awful things tend to be on a stalk..and can be lifted and snipped off.

well i made berties worse before xmas trying to pull rock hard lump of poo from his bottyhole area..i pulled wrong bit too hard and the polyp just wouldnt go back in. couldnt use the cream he was given...the poo covered it.

these pics are very graphic and the polyps very big.....but somewhere ive seen pics of it when small...wished id seen that back then!

I think this is what my bunny had many years ago.
My local vets reccomended pts but i found a soft tissue specialist vet that operated and give my bunny six more good years.
I am very interested in these photos (gruesome as they are) as i have never realy understood what my bunnys problem was and back then I did not have accsess to forums like now.
How is Bertie now?
My bun never had another problem of its kind after her operation and she recoverd as if nothing had ever happend.

I'm glad to hear that Bertie is ok after his surgery. My old dog had to have a large polyp removed from his bottom years ago, he had no issues after that.

Btw, your title had me go  at first glance on the main menu! I thought it was going to be rude spam!

Glad Bertie is well. Gorgeous boy.

At first I thought you might have wanted to show us your anal polyps. Not that I know you have any.:lol:
