  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Scampi has fishy breath!

Mia

Warren Scout
Hi

Scampi has just given me his evening kisses! He always reciprocates my cuddles by licking me on the nose! Anyway, his breath is a bit fishy, like cats breath.

He is in tip top health, and has a perfect diet (LOTS hay, evening of veg and very little dry food) so I am not sure what is the cause. Is this something I should worry about?

Thanks

I don't know what it means but if Buckley has stinky breath I'd take him to the vet just for peace of mind. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Maybe he's just living up to his name (Scampi :D), but I'd get it checked out just to be safe :)

dental disease, and i think i've seen it mentioned as something to do with abscesses sometimes aswell :? and something to do with the jaw or teeth :?

i would go to the vets.

thanks for your replies. Scampi has just had an MOT and vet checked his teeth, all ok, plus he isnt dribbling etc..

I guess it might have something to do with the fact that he had been eating spring greens! I am just watching him now and he is busy skidding and binkying around the room!
