  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Benji has diarrhoea

Made a total beginners error, I should know better.

My bunnies seem to be very veggie intolerant, especially Benji, so they mainly have herbs and dried foraged food as the "green" part of their diet.

However yesterday the little girl up the road brought some cabbage leaves and carrot tops down, so I thought I'd give them all a tiny bit this morning. And I mean little, they must have only had a few bites each.

But now Benji has really sloppy poo:( I've had to give him a bum and feet bath and bring him and Cupcake in, as I've disinfected their hutch and I'm leaving it to soak. They're only getting hay and water for the next day or so... I'm so stupid:( He also feels quite thin again where Cupcake is eating all the pellets.... argh I'm so stressed.

oh dear :( I hope it's not too serious and just sloppy poo because diarrhea in bunnies is very bad.

I'm just about to upload a video to youtube, all of a sudden he's perfectly fine:lol: Muching loads of hay and binkying about.

He's also producing fairly normal poos again. Ish. I think it's because I've like forced him into the hay box for the last hour:lol:
