How to get black marks off wood?

Any ideas, beyond giving it a good rub with a wet cloth and washing up liquid?

What type of wood (treated or untreated?) and what has caused the black marks?

I think it is pine, but will check. It was treated with something called 'good for wood' that the hutch people recommended. I presume the black marks are due to weathering. :?

Rub half an orange on it or a lemon and then wipe with a damp cloth and white vinegar, wipe clean, might work might not - worth a go.

Yep, for that type of staining on that type of wood I would go for white vinegar.

Thank you. I will investigate the cupboards to see if we have that type of vinegar. I think we just have wine vinegar for cooking though!

dont know if it will work on hutch but to remove water marks off wood furniture etc a brazil nut snapped in half and rubbed on mark removes the water mark :wave:

Do let us know if this works, I've been wondering if I could get rid of the marks on my hutch.:roll::lol:
