Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

CYLAP side effects

wench

Young Bun
hello, after giving her Lapinject for the last couple of years my vet decided without telling me to give Lulu Cylap. She had the documented side effects of going lame on one side. Luckily today she is better and back to herself.
What annoyed me more was the reception I received from my vets today when I phoned them to inform them of Lulus side effects. I never managed to actually speak to my vet as I couldn't get passed the vetinary nurse. As she cut me off before I even got to state that there had been a problem with the vaccination and told me that "Cylap is what we use now". It appeared that as she pre-empted what I was about to say therefore they must have experienced reports of problems with the Cylap vaccine previously.
Whilst I do intend to speak to the vet tommorow I am now left with trying to find a vet in my local area that does not use Cylap...unfortunately everyone I have tried so far only use Cylap. Can anyone tell me will vets order in Lapinject if you request it?

that's really bad that they did that.

my vets use cylap but said they can order lapinject in if i wanted that instead. my two luckily haven't had any reactions to cylap though.

if they are a good vets they should order some lapinject in for you.

glad your bunny is ok now. :)

that's damn typical. I have probs with mine sometimes, just because they have had training they think they know more than you when in actual fact no-one knows your bun better than you
