Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Weepy Eye

JamBenJakl

Young Bun
Hi

My bunny has had a weepy eye on and off for a while now, she has been to the Vets who have flushed the tear duct twice and have given her a course of antibiotics, but it is still weeping, and didn't know what else it could be.

The Vet has now referred her to a Specialist who I have her now and are having to put her under to and put dye in her eye and x-ray her head. They have just phoned me to say that for the X-ray and dye alone it will cost £400is this a rip off? It has already cost me £43 for the consultation.

Does anyone have any idea what why it is weeping.

Thanks for any help.

I've two with weeping eyes at the moment, one has cataracts on both eyes and the other rabbit the vet is not sure what it is , has your rabbit had a dental check to see if he has spurs on his back molars as this can cause weeping eyes :)
